AUGUST-SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER, 1^st QUARTER WELCOME to St. Henry Kindergarten for the 2008-2009 school year! RELIGION Our first Religion unit is entitled God’s Love Creates the Universe. God created the sky, world, animals and people. Unit 2 is entitled God makes me special-with feelings, senses, and talents. READING Our days in August are devoted to activities for “getting to know you.” We are working in our new reading series, which is centered around a story for the week. Please watch for a booklet entitled FAMILY TIMES which will outline the week for you and give you activities to do with your child. PLEASE REVIEW THE ALPHABET AND PRACTICE THE WORDS TO READ! October finds us doing activities for Fall, Fire Prevention, and Halloween.

MATH Math activities will include sorting, classifying, and graphing. We do counting and number activities with the calendar daily. In chapter 2 we explore patterns! Much attention will be devoted to helping the children make a smooth transition into Kindergarten. WE WILL TALK EXTENSIVELY ABOUT RULES AND APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR, AS A MEANS OF MAINTAINING A SAFE AND HAPPY CLASSROOM. WE WILL WORK ON SHARING, TAKING TURNS AND PLAYING NICE TOGETHER,COOPERATING, DOING WHAT THE TEACHER TELLS US, AND CONCENTRATING. WOW-WE HAVE A LOT TO WORK ON!!!!!!!
